Search

Finding any call from ⌘K or the Search calls page (by title, person, tag, folder or something that was said) and what search matches.

Finding a call

The magnifier at the top of the window, or ⌘K from anywhere, opens the search palette over whatever you were reading. Esc closes it and puts you back where you were.

With nothing typed, it shows your Recent calls and the People who appear in them. Start typing and results appear as you go, grouped into People, Calls and Folders & tags. Each result is a single line (the title, how long the call ran and the date), with a Live dot on a call that’s still running. For the highlighted row, the sentence that matched shows under the list, with who said it, so you can tell two similar calls apart without opening either.

↑ and ↓ move through the list and ↵ opens the highlighted row. ⇧↵ on a call opens its transcript at the sentence that matched.

A few rows do something other than open a call:

  • A person: narrows the palette to every call they’re in. Their name becomes a chip in the field; clear it to search everything again.
  • A folder or tag: opens that folder’s page, or filters your calls by that tag.
  • See all N matching calls: when there are more matches than the palette shows, this opens the same search on the full Search calls page.
  • Ask AI: sits in the field, beside the Esc hint, and sends your question to the chat about all your calls, instead of listing calls. It appears when you’ve typed a real question, or when few calls matched.

Search calls is the page for browsing every match, with the tag filter, the date filter and the sort menu. Each result is one line: the title, how long the call ran, when it was, its tags and a status badge where there is one: Live for a call in progress, a percentage while it’s still being transcribed or Interrupted. With no search and no filters, results are grouped by folder, the same as the sidebar.

Select calls, at the top right, puts a checkbox on every row. Tick the calls you want, or Select all, then Download their transcripts (one call saves a text file, several a .zip), Move them to a folder or Delete them: they go to Deleted calls, and the message that appears has Undo.

What search matches

The palette looks at several things at once, all on your Mac: call titles, the people in the call, tags, folders, preset names, the takeaways Cluinn pulled out after the call and the transcripts themselves. A name is one of the strongest signals, since searching for a person is often the whole question, and how recent a call is only breaks ties.

On Pro there’s a second pass. Once you’ve typed a phrase of a few words and paused, Cluinn also matches by meaning, and those calls join the same list marked Related. A call that shares no words with what you typed can turn up this way. It waits for you to stop typing and skips anything too short to be a phrase, because matching words is instant and matching meaning takes a moment. If it isn’t available, the palette falls back to matching words, without an error.

The matching runs on your Mac, against an index Cluinn builds of what each call was about. Building that index sends the text to our servers to be turned into numbers, the same way asking a question does. The ask box works from the same index, and answers instead of listing. Matching by meaning is part of Pro; matching words is open to everyone.
