Coach
Set a goal for your calls and Coach reads each one against it. It keeps the moments that got in the way and the ones that went well, and counts both.
What Coach is
Coach has its own page in the sidebar. You give it a goal, a habit you want to build on calls (for example “End every call with a dated next step”). Coach then reads your saved calls against that goal. For each call it keeps the moments where the habit slipped and the ones that went well, with what you said and a line to try next time.
It works from the transcripts already saved on your Mac, so nothing extra is recorded for it. Reading a call sends its text to our servers, the same way asking about a call does.
About you
The first time you open Coach, Let’s get started leads to About you. It asks two things: what best describes your work, and what your calls are mostly about. There’s also a box for anything else worth knowing, such as who you sell to or how long a deal takes. Continue saves it and Skip leaves it empty.
Coach uses this to suggest goals that fit your work, and it’s kept in mind in every answer Cluinn gives you, not only in Coach. You can change it later in Settings → Coach → About you.
Adding a goal
After About you, Coach offers a few goals to start from: Write your goal here, or pick one below. If you already have saved calls, it reads the most recent ones first and suggests goals from what it finds. Write your own in the box or pick a suggestion, then Save.

- Add goal, on the Coach page, adds another one. There’s a limit on how many goals you can keep, and Coach tells you when you reach it.
- A folder can have a goal of its own. Under Folders on the Coach page, choose Set a goal on that folder, or use the Coach row on the folder’s page. Coach reads only that folder’s calls against it.
- A goal’s ⋯ menu has Edit goal, Download PDF and Delete goal. Changing a goal starts it over (“This resets your progress”): the reads so far go and your calls are read again against the new goal. Keep current goal backs out. Deleting a goal removes its progress and leaves your calls alone.
Your count
The Coach page opens on a count for the range picked at the top right: Today, This week, This month or All time. The large number is how many moments slipped in that range, and beside it is how many went well.

The chart has one bar for each part of the range: a day, a week or longer, depending on the range. The solid bar above the line is what went well and the hatched bar below it is what slipped. A stretch with no calls stays empty. Point at a bar to see its dates and its two numbers.
Under the chart is a row for each goal, with the number of calls read in the range, when the goal was started and its own Went well and Slipped. Click a goal to open it.
A goal’s page
A goal’s page has the same count and chart for that goal alone. Under the chart, one line says what the last call did (Last call moved you closer, Last call held or Last call slipped) and why.

Objectives are the patterns Coach finds across your calls for this goal, like ending without a date or hedging the ask. Each one shows how many times it came up (instances), in how many calls, and its own Went well and Slipped. A small new marks one Coach has only just seen.
Objectives and moments
Click an objective to open it. On the left are its count, a line on what the pattern is, and Remember this: a short note to take into your next call.

On the right are the moments behind the count, in two lists:
- Can get better lists the moments where it slipped. Open one to see why it got in the way, what You said and a line to Try instead.
- Improved lists the moments where you did what the goal asks, and under them the calls it stayed out of the way in.
Each moment names its call. Click the name to open that call, or use the copy button to copy the moment.
On a saved call
A call Coach has read has a Coach row under its takeaways. It says how many moments got in the way and how many you did well in that call, across all your goals, for example 2 in the way · 3 done well. A call with none reads Nothing in the way.

Click the row for the list. Every moment says which objective and which goal it belongs to. The download button at the top saves the list as a PDF.
A folder’s page has a Coach row too. It reads Set a goal until the folder has one, then how the goal is going.
During a call
Coach can also remind you while a call is running. When a goal comes up, a card labelled Goal appears under the Calls panel, in the same strip as Smart Cards. It says what just happened and what to do about it, with the phrase it’s about underneath.

It stays quiet at the start of a call and shows only a few cards an hour.
Coach settings
Settings → Coach has four things:
- Coach switches it on or off. Off keeps your goals and stops everything.
- Where it appears: In a live call, After the call or Both. Live means the card in the Calls panel.
- How it talks to you: Direct names the thing. Gentle asks a question instead.
- About you opens what you told Coach about your work, so you can edit it.

Catching up on past calls
When you save a new goal, Coach reads your most recent saved calls against it straight away (Reading your last … calls), so the page has something to show before your next call. After that, each new call is read when it’s saved. A call where you hardly spoke has nothing to read and is skipped.
