Saved calls & chat

The call page, its ask box and chats, takeaways, downloads and what each plan can ask and export.

Right after a call ends

The call is already saved when the panel closes. For a few seconds afterwards the page reads Getting your call ready… while Cluinn names the call and pulls out its takeaways. Nothing is at risk: the transcript is saved before that starts, and the page fills in when it’s done.

The call page

Open a call from the Calls list in the sidebar. The title at the top is editable: click it and type to rename the call. Beside it are the call’s tags: click them, or Tags on a call that has none, to add labels you can filter by later. To delete the call, open the ⋮ menu on its row in the sidebar (or right-click the row) and choose Delete call. It moves to Deleted calls, where you can restore it; see Folders & deleted calls.

Below the call’s name is the ask box, Ask about this call.

Asking

The box shows a suggested question that changes every few seconds, such as “What did they say about pricing?”, “What did I agree to?” or “What’s still unresolved?”. Press Tab to put the one on screen into the box, then edit it, or ignore it and type your own. Prefer to speak? Click the mic in the box to dictate your question, then Stop and insert.

On a call Cluinn has read, the suggestions are about that call, with general ones mixed in. After an answer, the box suggests a follow-up the same way.

Once an answer arrives you’re in a chat about this call. Ask follow-up questions and it remembers the thread.

While an answer is appearing, the send button becomes Stop:

  • If the answer has fully arrived and is still being shown, Stop skips to the end and keeps it.
  • If it’s still being written, Stop cancels it and nothing is saved.

Each answer shows when it was given (Just now, then 5 minutes ago, 2 hours ago, yesterday and a date after a week), and the wording updates as time passes.

Copying and editing what you sent

Hover one of your own messages and two buttons appear:

  • Copy message copies what you asked.
  • Edit message (the pen) turns your message into an editor. ↵ sends, ⇧↵ adds a line and Esc cancels. Clicking elsewhere does nothing, so you can’t lose an edit by mistake.

Sending an edit asks again from that point: everything after the message you changed is replaced by the new answer. Nothing changes until the new answer arrives, so cancelling leaves the chat as it was.

Answers have two buttons of their own: Copy answer and Download answer.

Now and then a question needs something the call itself doesn’t contain. The answer then pauses on a globe and “Searching…” while it looks it up, and the finished answer carries a sources chip underneath (for example 3 sources). Open it to see the pages it used; clicking one asks “Open this page in your browser?” before it leaves Cluinn, with a Don’t ask again tick box.

Chats about this call

Chats are behind the Chat history icon at the bottom left of the ask box, newest first, each with the day it was last used. New chat, at the top of the page once a chat is open, starts a fresh thread about the same call.

A chat’s ⋮ menu has Rename chat and Delete this chat. Deleting removes only the conversation (“Your calls and takeaways are untouched”). You can also rename a chat by clicking its name at the top of the page.

Takeaways

At the bottom of the call page, takeaways are grouped into one line each, count first, for example 6 Action items. The groups are Action items, Reminders and Key points. Click a line to open the full list.

  • Action items have a checkbox, Mark as done, that you can tick straight from the list. Once something is ticked, the line adds a breakdown such as 2 checked · 4 unchecked.
  • Reminders and key points have a small dot. Blue means you haven’t opened it yet; it turns grey once you have.
  • The list opens on Unchecked, so ticking an action item takes it off the list. Filter (at the top of the list, for action items) switches to Checked to see what you’ve done, and View all shows both. If the filter hides everything, you see “All checked off” or “Nothing checked off yet”, with a Show all button.
  • Click any row to open it on its own, with Previous and Next and a count such as “3 of 6”. Remove takes an item off the call, and ⌘Z puts it back. Removing one from the Calls home page only hides it there; it stays on its own call.
  • Delete all, the bin at the top of the list, removes the whole group from the call. It asks first, and unlike Remove it can’t be undone.

Takeaways are made when a call ends, so they come with Calls (Pro, or the free trial).

Under the takeaways, a call that Coach has read against one of your goals has a Coach row, such as 2 in the way · 3 done well. Click it for the moments behind those numbers. A call has no Coach row until you’ve set a goal.

Asking across all your calls

The Calls row in the sidebar opens All your calls, the Calls home page, which works the same way: an ask box (Ask about any of your calls), a changing suggestion, Tab to use it and one chat per thread. Under the box it gathers your takeaways from the last 7 days, and below them a Files and notes row marked All calls. Attach documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, slide decks, text files or images there, or write a note, and answers about any call can use them. You can attach up to 10 files to any one folder and 100 across your whole account. (Files and notes are part of Pro; see Content.)

On Pro, the + button (Chat about specific calls) ties a chat to calls you pick, up to 8. You can remove the call pills above the box until the chat’s first answer locks them in.

Folders have their own version of this page. See Folders & deleted calls.

Transcripts & downloads

The Transcript view and Download transcript are open on every plan, Basic included: it’s your own data on your Mac, and the download goes straight to a save dialog.

Inside the transcript, a search field finds any phrase, shows how many times it appears and steps between matches. People and Download transcript are at the top.

Who said what is the only thing you can change in a saved transcript; the words themselves are a record of what was said. People (at the top of the transcript, or at the top right of the call next to Transcript) and Reassign speaker on a single turn fix names. See Speaker names.

Download answer saves an AI answer as a PDF. It’s part of Pro, and the free trial includes it. A Download PDF sheet lets you choose what to include: call name, date & time, call length, folder, your question, your name and Cluinn branding. Rows that don’t apply aren’t shown. Your choices become the defaults for next time. Tick Don’t ask again to skip the sheet, and bring it back with Settings → General → Ask before downloading PDFs.

Question limits

On Pro there’s a ceiling on how many questions a single call can take, counted across all its chats. The figure is in the fair-use section of our Terms. If you reach it, the box says so and reminds you the transcript is yours to keep working from; earlier answers stay readable and downloadable.

On Basic, asking about a call needs Pro: the box is greyed out and opens the Plan sheet. The transcript itself stays readable and downloadable. See Plans & trials.

Note: Call audio is never stored on Cluinn’s servers and never backed up. Finished calls are kept as text on your Mac, which Save transcripts in Privacy settings does by default. Where encrypted backup is switched on for your account, an encrypted copy of your calls, dictation transcripts, notes and folders is kept on our servers. See Sync & backup.

Common questions

What happens to the rest of the chat when I edit a message?

Everything after the message you edited is replaced by the new answer. The chat is rewritten only once that answer arrives, so cancelling an edit changes nothing.

Can I ask about several calls at once?

Yes, from the Calls home page. Ask across everything, or tie the chat to up to 8 calls with the + button.
