Folders & deleted calls

Organize calls into folders, ask about a whole folder at once, sort the list and restore a call you deleted.

Where calls live

Every call you save lands in the Calls list in the sidebar. Folders are at the top, under a Folders heading. Calls that aren’t in a folder are under Recent calls below them, newest first, and you can drag them into any order you like. Each heading appears once it has something under it, so a new account shows neither.

Folders

Four ways to make one:

  • A call’s ⋮ menu → Move to folder → New folder.
  • Drag one call onto the middle of another and hold for a moment: both go into a new folder.
  • The New folder button on the Folders heading in the sidebar.
  • New folder at the bottom of the Calls bar’s folder picker, so you can file a call as you start it.

The first two work any time. The other two are on controls that appear once you already have a folder.

Drag calls into a folder, between folders or back out onto the Calls heading. Hovering over a closed folder for a moment opens it so you can drop inside. An empty folder shows Drag calls inside and accepts a drop anywhere in that box. When you’ve selected several calls, they move together, and Esc cancels a drag in progress.

Folders go two levels deep. A top-level folder’s ⋮ menu offers New subfolder; a subfolder’s offers Move out of folder. Try to nest deeper and nothing moves, and a note says “Folders go two levels deep. Move this folder’s subfolders out first, then nest it.”

Rename a folder with a quick second click on its name, from its ⋮ menu or by editing the title on its page. (A slower second click folds the folder instead, so a pause between clicks never opens the name for editing by accident.) Delete folder, in the same menu or by right-clicking the folder, removes the folder only, and the confirmation says no calls are deleted: the calls inside move back out to the top level. A subfolder’s calls move up into the folder around it instead, and a folder’s own subfolders move out to the top level. ⌘Z undoes it, calls and all.

The folder page

Click a folder’s name to open it as a page; the arrow beside it opens and closes it in the sidebar. The page works like a saved call, for everything inside the folder: the folder’s name and counts at the top, an ask box below (Ask anything about the calls in this folder) with a changing suggestion and Tab to use it, the folder’s takeaways under that and then Files and notes. Attach documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, slide decks, text files or images there, or write a note, and answers about this folder use them. You can attach up to 10 files to any one folder and 100 across your whole account. (Files and notes are part of Pro; see Content.)

The last row is Coach. It reads Set a goal until the folder has a goal of its own, then how that goal is going; see Coach.

Its chats are its own, behind the Chat history icon at the bottom left of the ask box, separate from any one call’s chats and from the Calls home page.

In an empty folder the box is disabled and says “Add calls to this folder, then ask about them here.”

The folder’s list of calls is the one in the sidebar; the page doesn’t repeat it.

Deleted calls

Delete call in a call’s ⋮ menu doesn’t destroy anything. There’s no confirmation: the call moves to Deleted calls, a toast offers Undo and ⌘Z works too.

To get a call back, click your account chip at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Deleted calls. That’s the only way in, and it opens as a page of its own.

Each row shows the call, how long it ran, how long it has left (“12 days left”) and the date it was deleted, all on the row itself. On the right are two buttons:

  • Restore puts the call back where it was, folder included.
  • Delete forever erases that one call. It asks first, and it can’t be undone.

A search field at the top finds a call by name, and the rule (“Kept for 30 days”) is shown beside it. Empty clears the whole list at once, also after asking. Those two are the only ways to erase anything for good here.

How long a deleted call is kept before it’s erased is set in Settings → Calls → Empty automatically: after 7, 30 or 90 days, after a year or never. Shortening it asks before erasing anything already older than the new limit. See Calls settings.

Sorting

Sort is the sort icon on the Folders and Recent calls headings. One click opens the options, and a dot on the icon means a sort is on. Both headings sort the same top-level list, with these options:

  1. No sorting
  2. Name (A–Z)
  3. Newest first
  4. Oldest first
  5. Longest first
  6. Shortest first

No sorting, the default, is your own order: the one you arranged by dragging.

Sorting changes the view, not the list. It never rewrites your own order, so switching back to No sorting gives you exactly what you had.

Each list sorts separately. The top-level sort covers the sidebar’s top level and the Search calls page. A folder sorts its own contents from the Sort row in its ⋮ menu, which shows the order it’s using.

Dragging a call inside a sorted list overrules the sort: the list stays as it looks, your call lands where you dropped it, and that list goes back to No sorting. A toast says “Sorting turned off. This list keeps the order you arrange by hand.” and offers Undo (⌘Z works too). Where a drop wouldn’t do anything, the dragged call dims while you hover, so you know before you let go.

Common questions

Does deleting a folder delete the calls in it?

No. The calls move back out to the top level, and ⌘Z puts the folder back if you change your mind.

Why can’t I drag a call up or down?

You can. Dragging inside a sorted list turns that list’s sort off and keeps the order you dropped it in. A toast says so, and Undo or ⌘Z puts the sort back.

Where did a deleted call go?

Into Deleted calls. Open it from your account chip at the bottom of the sidebar and Restore it there, or leave it and it’s erased after the time set in Settings → Calls.

How do I find a call?

Press ⌘K, or use the Search calls page. See Search.
